We
start this trip in Brewarrina, where we discover ancient fish traps and a beaut
free camp at 4 Mile Camp, which is
only 6km out of town.
Before making our
way to Glengarry, we stop for a look at
Walgett, an important regional centre. Fred
pops in at the famous pub featured in
the top 10 outback pubs of Australia. Then
he goes yabby catching and learns the
tricks from the local Mark.
Fred
meets caravanners fossicking for
opal, and it’s here you can find your petrol
money, with a little bit of luck that
is. Lightning Ridge is the black opal
capital. This is a truly amazing place
and somewhere you should visit at
least once in your lifetime.
Going
underground to Chambers of the
Black Hand, Fred talks to the local
artist at the Bird of Paradise Gallery
and checks out John Murray’s gallery.
We visit a free camp by the Barwon
River,
explore the history of the
early miners and stop in at the Bore
Baths to relax and catch up with some
fellow caravanners at the Opal Caravan
Park.
We also check in with the
team at Off Road Systems and see its
4WD storage options and the latest on
offer from Winnebago.
This
is one DVD that you simply cannot
miss. Put the kettle on, sit in your
favourite chair and explore Australia
with Fred.
